1960s – the beginning in Tampere

The company’s roots go back to 1966, when the manufacture of car wash machines began in Tampere.
The first machines were manufactured by Auto R. Lamminen, and they were sold through the Helsinki-based Sawilco Oy.
In 1968, Kone Lamminen Ky was founded, sales were taken over and the brand name changed from Wilcomatic to Tammermatic.

1970s – development of automation and internationalization

• The machines in the early stages were semi-automatic, but in the 1970s, fully automatic washing machines were developed.
• Move to Tesoma to a new factory in 1971.
• Roller brush technology was introduced in the Nordic washing machine in 1974.
• The company was acquired by the Electrolux Group in 1975, which accelerated international growth.

1980s–2000s – technology and export

• Tammermatic continuously developed new washing technologies for both passenger cars and heavy equipment.
• In 2007, Sentica Partners became the main owner, and the following year, the Tammermatic Group was formed when we bought the American InterClean.
• In 2016, InterClean was sold.
• Export became a significant part of the business, especially to the Nordic countries and Europe, where demanding weather conditions created a need for efficient washing solutions.

2018–present – ​​back in domestic hands

• At the end of 2018, the company was transferred to the ownership of a Finnish entrepreneurial group.
• 2021 Tammermatic moved from Rahola, Tampere to new premises in Pirkkala.
• 2024, a new roll-over car wash machine, the Tammermatic FENiX, was launched to replace the previous model T700.

Throughout our history, we have had washing machine brand names, depending on the market, such as 200MK, 200A, Taifun, Avenger, Marina, Nordic, Polar, Pallas and Ultra.

Our heavy-duty washing machine Rainbow Ultima has carried the prefix since 1968, when it was designed! Our first washing street was launched in Europe in 1970 and the first train washing machines were also delivered in the 1970s.
